In 1945, Northwest native Armond Pearson returned from his wartime service in the South Pacific. After six years in the Army and four years of war, he was fired with ambition and eager to embrace the American dream. He married his wartime sweetheart and enrolled in the University of Washington under the new GI Bill, graduating with a degree in Business Administration in 1947. After graduation he took a job at a mattress factory in San Francisco, where he learned how to make a really great mattress. Returning home to the Northwest, he founded Sleep-Aire Mattress Company in 1952. The first factory / retail outlet was located in the Roosevelt District of Seattle, offering high quality and factory direct prices. Soon there were locations in South Seattle, Bellevue, and Everett.

Sleep Aire has been a fixture of the Northwest for over fifty years, providing thousands of satisfied customers with high quality mattresses, boxsprings, custom sized unique beds, and above all, outstanding customer care. We are proud of our reputation and our longevity.

Today Armond Pearson is active in an advisory capacity at Sleep-Aire, and the Pearson tradition of quality and service is carried on by his son, Mike.
